Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship

Each year, the Zonta Club of Lafayette awards a $500 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Scholarship. The club is now accepting applications for 2015 scholarship. Click here for the 2016 Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship Application.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships

 

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships encourage undergraduate women to enter careers and seek leadership positions in business management. Established from a bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York, USA, and the 1990-1995 Zonta International Parliamentarian, in 1998, the Scholarships have provided 102 scholarships to women in 23 countries. Zonta Club of Lafayette provides $750 towards this scholarship. Mary Dichmann English Scholarship

The Mary Dichmann English Scholarship is available for students at UL Lafayette. The English faculty at UL Lafayette nominate and choose a winner for this $750 scholarship each spring. Undergraduate and graduate students are considered for the award. The award is provided directly by the scholaship office at UL Lafayette.

Sexual Assault Nurse Practitioners (SANE) Program Scholarship

Zonta Club of Lafayette provides an $800 education scholarship to the Sexual Assault Nurse Practitioners (SANE) Program in Lafayette for special training for those nurses volunteering to work with the program.

Zonta Club of Lafayette Woman’s Scholarship

A woman pursuing any degree accepted at a Louisiana University, College or Vocational Technical School can apply. Scholarship may be used for any expenses to help the woman achieve her degree.   Zonta Club of Lafayette provides one $1250 scholarship awarded yearly in the fall.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Applicant must be the major wage earner of the family (proof of income)
  • Applicant must be an undergraduate (technical school or college)
  • Applicant must have satisfactory results on SAT/ACT (Math ACT score of at least 19 (460 Math SAT) and an English ACT score of at least 18 (450 Verbal/Critical Reasoning SAT)
    Applicant must be enrolled at a Louisiana university, college or technical school (in non-remedial courses)
    Applicant must be a Louisiana resident and a U.S. citizen

METHOD OF SELECTION:

The Zonta Club of Lafayette will review all applicants received by the deadline. Qualifying applications will be judged by a panel of two (2) Zonta Club of Lafayette members and one (1) external female community representative. The winner will receive a $1000.00 scholarship. (All scholarship funding dependent on available funds. Scholarships may be of a lesservalue.)

ITEMS REQUIRED WITH THE APPLICATION:

  • Proof of Income (example: income tax return)
  • Letters of Reference – (1) Academic reference, (2) Employer reference, (3) Character reference (refer to application – all letters must be on letterhead and mailed directly to Zonta Club of Lafayette contact)
  • Career Statement (at least 300 words)
  • Budget showing how the scholarship money will be used (example: Tuition, Fees, Books & Supplies, Room/Board, Transportation, Child Care)
  • Enrolled for a minimum of 6 semester hours (Continuation of funding from semester to semester is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative 2.5 grade point average).
